The Power of Asking "What If?"

Sometimes, as hard as we try, affirmations just don’t work. Don’t get me wrong, I love affirmations, use them, and have had great success with them. But there may be a deep, core part of us that simply won’t believe whatever seed of great intention that we plant. We may affirm: “I am living the life of my dreams with a partner that deeply understands me.” Or perhaps your life is filled with anxiety and you continuously repeat: “My life is filled with ease, grace, and peace.” You fill in the blank. But when our subconscious listens, we hear its voice say: “Yeah right, and the sky is always clear blue.” You can repeat the affirmation as often as you want, but your subconscious stubbornly clings to what it “knows” to be true. When you find yourself in this predicament, there is another approach that cracks open deep-seated subconscious beliefs. It’s called gentle persuasion and is based on two words: What if? Not “What if the plane I’m on gets hit by a bolt of lightning and comes crashing down?” No, those worst case scenario “What ifs” are not what I’m talking about! The “what ifs” I’m speaking of have the unique ability to spark curiosity and completely shift our mindset from one of disbelief into one of possibility. The power of asking what if opens our energy field to opportunities that our “small self” would surely exclaim in its most controlling voice: “Who do you think you are? There is no way that could happen!” What if questions blow the lid off the glass ceiling of what we believe we are capable of and opens us up to fields of infinite positive possibilities. Take a moment and ask yourself a “what if” question. Perhaps your question is: What if I could live the life of my dreams with a partner that deeply understands me? What if I could be free of anxiety and let ease, grace, and peace be my guide? What if my deepest desire could be manifested? Notice what happens internally when you ask your question. For me, I notice a quickening in my heart and my Spirit responds: “Yes, more questions like that please.” As I ask the question, my cells literally begin to vibrate with excitement and anticipation. As they do, a new more elevated vibrational pattern emerges. A higher frequency within me begins to calibrate, setting the stage – literally a field of energy – for me to receive what it is I truly desire. My subconscious becomes more curious, open, and dare I say, even excited! I encourage you to use What If questions often, even several times throughout the day. When you use them, don’t be surprised if you notice there’s a subtle wave of energy that vacillates between fear and excitement. If you notice that, it’s a sign you’re on the right track. As Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, Africa’s first woman president said, “If your dreams don’t scare you, they are not big enough.” Let go of any perceived pre-determined destiny you may have about yourself. Stop stereotyping yourself and believe in possibilities. Especially your possibilities! Recalibrate your energy with What if questions. Shift your frequency. As you do, watch the answers to your What If questions unfold before you beyond your wildest dreams!
